Breakin’ at Harlem Bar

Last night Jordan, the Frenchwoman and I went to Harlem bar for some dinner. Everything was fantastic. I broke my vegetarianism for the night and got catfish fingers, mac and cheese, sweet plantains and collards. To top it off I had a ‘yellow cab’ a drink with OJ, champagne and grand marnier. So we were having a great time, eating and gabbing and then I saw it… They were projecting Breakin’ 2 Electric Boogaloo on the wall… I freaked out and the waitress was not impressed that I knew what it was and frowned when I showed her my interpretation of ‘popping’. Johnny Rockets – a lesson in disgusting

A few weeks back lulu, Jordan, berry and I decided we had no clothes and had to go shopping. For poor female graduate students there are really only two store options (1) H&M and (2) forever 21

Seeing how H&M wasn’t open yet in Atlanta we decided to make the trip up to Lawrenceville to hit up the forever 21 at discover mills mall. Discover mills is a mall owned by Discover card – and they make their presence known. There are posters all over the place for Discover, banners, booths and so on and so forth. The place was already weird – but got progressively weirder as we walked around. There was wall to wall carpeting and a dentist kiosk where you could get your teeth whitened for 35 dollars. Now I hadn’t been to a mall since my junior year in college when I went to Copley Place to go to saks to buy some jeans . . . this mall was not like Copley Place.

foucault’s asparagus

a few weeks ago lulu, jordan (who wanted her face blurred) and i got together for a little sup. i made latkes, jordan made salad and asparagus and lulu brought the wine and pecan pie (with ice cream). it was a classic georgia night, and we sat around jordans tiny ikea dining table and talked about this and that

i am in sweatpants already!?

so i just looked in my assignment notebook and lo and behold i have to teach class tomorrow about how to incorporate art into education – christ! its 10 o’clock and instead of getting to work i thought id show you guys some of what ive been doing instead of work!!! below is a pic of the wonderful spread of food at oblongs easter party:
